The
Sarasota Highlanders
The
"Sarasota Highlanders" is a performance and competition band composed of mature
players from many varied backgrounds in the piping and drumming world. This
makes for a great mix of talent and experience. Our members are scattered from
Clearwater to Punta Gorda, Florida.
The current membership consists of 14 pipers and 7 drummers of various kinds. About half of our members are snow birds, the rest are year-round residents.
We practice each Thursday afternoon in Sarasota from 1 until 3 pm.
We do all kinds of performances: festivals, parades, civic events, weddings, and all types of social events.
We also have a competition group for those who desire it. The Highlanders compete as a Grade 5 band in SUSPBA sanctioned events.
As stated earlier, we are a "mature" group who have "been there " and "done that" but we still want to continue to "be and do" and welcome all who feel the same.
