Brigadoons

The Brigadoons have a special and lengthy relationship with Celtic
Music. Their home base is Glengarry County, Ontario, Canada. This
is an area which was settled largely by the Scots and the traditions
of Scotland have been sustained and nurtured there for hundreds of
years. The band wears the
Flower of Scotland
Tartan in
honor of the music they celebrate. Discover the meaning of their
logo.
The group was formed over 25 years ago in 1971 by Rob Taylor. Over
the years many talented members have come and gone. Bob Burnie, Gaye
Leroux, Jamie Wood and Brian MacDonell, together with Rob were the
first of the Brigadoons, later came Rick Linke, David Wright, Paddy
Kelly and Shelley Downing.
After many albums and a recent 25 year reunion the Brigadoons are
still going strong. From a trip to entertain Canadian Troops in
Alert, NWT to playing at the Epcot Center, the Brigadoons are no
strangers to being on the road. They've played at the National Arts
Center in Ottawa, Worldfest, The International Folk Festival in
Murfeesboro, Tennessee; numerous times in Disney World, highland
gatherings all over the US and Canada, as well as several Caribbean
cruises. They've had the honor of playing for her Majesty, Queen
Elizabeth II during her visit in 1984, and with talented musicians
such as Alex Beaton, 7 Nations, Tracey Dares, Natalie MacMaster and
the Alexander Brothers. Their audience range from senior citizens
to kindergarten children.
The Brigadoons have had the pleasure of sharing the stage with some
of the best pipe bands in the world, many pipers and drummers
through the years and celtic music groups such as: The Battlefield
Band, The Tannahill Weavers, 7 Nations, The Rankin Family, Leahy,
The Great Big Sea, Clandestine, The Alexander Brothers, The Barra

Juniper

Juniper
is quickly becoming a favorite folk band in the larger Tampa Bay
Area, enjoying extensive airplay on WMNF 88.5 FM, the local
community radio station. They have been invited to play at the
Florida Folk Festival, the South Florida Folk Festival, and
Riverhawk’s String Break, as well as a number of local Celtic
festivals. At the debut of their first CD, Looking For A Rock, they
played to a standing-room only crowd of over 350 and have continued
to generate enthusiasm wherever they appear. Jasmine and Frances
have been playing together, both as a duo and in larger bands, since
1999. With Juniper they have expanded their musical horizons to
include such diverse styles as traditional Celtic and old-time
American tunes, haunting airs and waltzes, and bluesy-jazzy original
songs…even a few Latin-flavored surprises.
Juniper blends Traditional Celtic,
Alternative Folk and Americana music in an eclectic experience which
transports their fans into a world of sweet harmonies and moving
melodies. Acclaimed musicians and recording artists Frances Pisacane
and Jasmine Hart weave a tight musical tapestry from the sounds
which have endured and entertained for over five centuries.
Ancient Celtic lore tells that the
pixies and fairies planted the Juniper bush outside of the entrance
to the Other World. Those who see Juniper perform travel with them
through that door, into the ancient moors of Ireland and the soulful
hills of the Appalachian Mountains. T’is a mystical, magical place.
Frances weaves lovely harmonies and dynamic melodies on the fiddle,
while Jasmine’s compelling vocals and fiery rhythms on guitar round
out their unique sound.
